Calvin Klein is one of the greatest fashion brands, and has been around for decades. Did you know, however, that this brand started its activity with the production of underwear? Calvin Klein was born on November 19, 1942 in New York to a family of Polish immigrants. He was passionate about art from an early age – he attended the Cooper Union School of Art, where he studied with Warhol (who later became famous). After college, Calvin started designing clothes. His first collection was released in 1968 and included only women’s bras and panties!
It wasn’t something that had been seen on the market before, so in just a few years, Calvin Klein’s underwear has become one of the most popular brands. In 1971, he released his first collection for men – it was then that he began to gain fame as a budding designer and fashion influencer (he even appeared on the cover of Rolling Stone Magazine). Later, he continued designing every garment you can think of: jeans, watches, shoes… The list goes on and on! Today, Calvin Klein is one of the world’s largest fashion brands.
The biggest competitors of the Calvin Klein brand are the companies that design (and sell) Zara and H&M clothes.
The company also owns CK perfumes, which have been on the market for over 30 years! It is one of the most popular fragrances for men – it was launched in 1988, when Calvin wanted to create a fragrance that would perfectly match his image as a budding designer: masculine but delicate at the same time. The original fragrance contained notes of lemon, bergamot and lavender; later however, other fragrances were added, so it’s easy to find your favorite one if you ever want to make a new cologne or perfume for yourself.
The future of Calvin Klein is very bright, especially considering the fact that he will soon start designing children’s clothes and underwear.
